Stepan Firstov joined the Board of the Southeast European Medical Forum.

The event was held in resort centre Banja Vrucića, Teslić, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina from 6th to 9th September 2018 under control of The World Medical Association (WMA). It was organized in cooperation with the Association of Medical Doctors of Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. All nine Congresses including the current one were accredited by the EACCME (European Accreditation Council for Continuous Medical Education). The certificates were received by participants are applicable all around Europe and the World. The participants received 16 CME credits. The Congress united 350 physicians of different practises from 21 countries all around Europe. 

There was a scientific program at the Congress including the most current issues of different themes in modern medicine. Some of the questions were related to health organisation system of European countries. The reports on these topics were made by the Heads of Authorities from different countries of South-Eastern Europe. More over, Congress speakers presented their scientific reports with the results of medical researches to be attached. Over 80 participants published their scientific abstracts in the Congress book.

Round table discussions with the topics of «Organization and Problems of the Healthcare systems in Southeast European Countries» & «Ethics and Moral of the Medical Profession» were also held during the event. The participants discussed the most actual aspects of the organization and different models of funding of the healthcare systems of the member SEEMF countries. The Congress days were complemented by dialogues on the medical science and practice in South Europe, on the development and improvement of the organization and the particularities of the countries health policies.

The Congress topics covered the main socially scientificant diseases namely: Oncology, Surgery, Cardiology, Diabetes, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Varia. Official languages of the Congress were English, Russian, Bulgarian and Serbian.

The event's hosts warmly welcomed participants from Russia and offered Stepan Firstov to represent Russia at the Forum Council. To add, at the Congress there were newly accepted Board members from 4 countries: Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and Russia.

The Southeast European Medical Forum (SEEMF) was founded in 2005. SEEMF today unites medical associations of more than 15 contries including Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, Greece, Belarus, Slovenia, Ukraine, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Montenegro, Serbia, Moldova and the Czech Republic. The President of SEEMF is Prof. Andrey Kehayov, M.D. SEEMF annually holds international scientific and practical forums in different member SEEMF countries with physicians from all over the word to be involved. The main SEEMF purpose is to promote the partnership of the medical profession in the member-countries; to discuss healthcare problems and find solutions; to enable exchange of experience; to strengthen relations in all fields of activity of the medical organizations. SEEMF contributes to continuous medical education through medical congresses and other forms of mutual activity. SEEMF assists its members for improvement of their medical and management-related qualification. SEEMF also establishes contacts and partnership with other international organizations.

The participation of the President of the World Medical Association (WMA) and Vice-President of the Standing Committee of European Doctors gave special significance to the IX International Medical Congress of SEEMF. This fact confirmed the importance of the SEEMF mission and achievement. It is also guaranteed special attitude from WMA to the organization because it promotes medical science.

SEEMF President Andrey Kehayov underlines: «We promote exchange experience of our researches in all medical fields to contribute future successful development of medicine and healthcare systems in Southern Europe».

Referring to newly elected SEEMF Board Members including Stepan Firstov, Andrei Kehayov says: «I sincerely hope that your efforts, knowledge and experience will contribute for the future development and affirmation of our SEEMF society, as one of the most active and resultative medical organizations not only in Southeastern Europe but all over the world».
