The WHPA established in 1999. It has been bringing together organizations representing dentists, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists and therapists from more than 130 countries for more than 20 years. It acts as a mouthpiece for more than 34 million health workers, gathering necessary knowledge and experiences of key medical professionals and achieving improvement of global health protection and quality of patience care.

WHPA includes global organizations, representing dentists, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists and doctors about the world. One of the tasks for this Alliance is to facilitate collaboration between professionals and key stakeholders such as governments and international organizations including the World Health Organization. Working in collaboration, rather than in parallel, patients and health systems benefit equally.

Jointly with its partners, the WHPA presents more than 600 national member organizations, making a key point of global access to health professionals across five main organizations:
— The World Dental Federation (FDI) is the main representative body for more than one million dentists worldwide. FDI consists of about 200 national dental assocations from about 130 countries;
— The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) is a global federation for national organizations representing more than four million pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists and pharmaceutical educators from about the world;
— International Council of Nurses (ICN) is a federation uniting more that 130 national associations of nurses representing more than 20 million people about the world;
— The World Physiotherapy is the only international voice in a sphere of physiotherapy, representing more than 625 000 physiotherapists about the world through 121-member organization;
— The World Medical Association is an international organization representing more than nine million doctors and includes 113 national medical associations.

Stepan Firstov takes active part in its work as well. He has been delegating to the WMA GA since 2014 and participating at the WMA meetings and events as an Associate Member since 2017.

Exactly at that moment, when Covid-19 pandemic tests on effectiveness all population on the planet, it is especially important to be noticed, that the interation of all systems of global community to overcome the threat hung over the human health and life according to representatives of the World Health Professions Alliance.
