At the World Medical Association General Assembly in Cordoba, Spain the iniative of the Spanish General Medical Council (CGCOM) on proposal of an International Day of the Medical Profession was approved. The international holiday date was chosen to be the 30th October.

The coronavirus pandemic of the year became a real ordeal for all countries. The Healthcare system as well as physicians has been surviving a colossal workload. Risking their own lives, medical workforce saves others showing the highest professional level and following ethical principles.

All WMA members including the WMA AM and the Presidium members of the Society of Doctors of Russia Stepan Firstov unanimously supported the establishment of a new professional holiday.
