The discussions in a virtual mode were organized by the University of Basel National Research Centre and the Pontifical Academy for Life. Webinar, devoted to the new medical approaches including technologies of artificial intelligence and genetic modifications, was attended by the Presidium member of the All-Russian public organization Society of doctors of Russia and Associate Member of the World Medical Association Stepan Firstov.
Leading scientists as well as experts from Australia and the USA underlined inherent ethical standards in medicine, particularly the need to consider any issue from different point of views, for example, technological, anthropological, social, psycological, political, cultural and religious. Moreover, it was important to take into account economic factors and environment state. Scientists also mentioned respect for the human anatomy, which should be involved in the process of making medical or scientific decisions, following norms of justice, equality and solidarity. Many scientists advocated individual diagnostic measures of a disease and its development considering the potential for each individual.
Participants also noted, that spread of the Internet often leads to an information mess and, consequently, to misinformation concerning important medical aspects. "We must work together and provide people with verified and trusted information." concluded the participants.
