Stepan Firstov participated in the online session of the WMA Associate Membership. The meeting was held within the World Medical Association 71th General Assembly, which had been scheduled for 26-30 October 2020, Cordoba, Spain. However, due to the current situation of COVID-19 outbreak, all events within the GA were switched in online mode.

45 doctors from all about the world participated in the online meeting of the WMA Associate Membership as well as the WMA Secretary General, dr. Otmar KLOIBER, the WMA chairperson of the Associate Members, dr. Joseph HEYMAN, and the WMA Communication and Information manager, Magda MIHAILA, as moderators of the session.

At the council meeting Chairman’s report on members’ interaction was heard and the number of important issues were discussed. Special attention was devoted to the WMA members’ safety in different countries. After an active and continues discussion the resolution on equality in the Health system of all minorities was adopted. The WMA Associate Membership Chairman, dr. Joseph HEYMAN, was awarded for his outstanding contribution to the work of the Associate Membership. In the final part of the event, two delegates from the Associate Membership were chosen by votes majority to present the Assocaite Membership at the WMA 71th GA. They were Rui NAKAMURA (Japan) and Yassen Tcholakov (Canada).

Stepan Firstov has been delegating in the WMA GA since 2014 and has been participating in the WMA events and meetings since 2017 as an Associate Member.
